Robert Blair Porter was born in Kingston, Canada in 1951. He has drawn and painted all his life.
His travels and his study of Buddhism brought him into contact with the ancient and esoteric art of Tibetan Tanghka painting.
He was so impressed he began a pilgrimage which ended in a two year study with the Dalai Lama’s court painter in Dharamsala, India.
Robert returned to Canada in 1975 to pursue a four year Fine Arts programme at the Ontario College of Art, after which he was awarded a scholarship to study in Florence, Italy.

Since then he has continued to dedicate himself to his art, producing a steady stream of works.
While perfecting his technique over the years, he has pondered the motivations and messages of Art itself.
Ultimately, his work ranges from the deeply personal to the universal.
Since 1980, Robert has been traveling, painting and exhibiting around the world. He returned to Canada in 2006 with his wife and two sons. |
